LCSW Clinical Supervision FAQ
What is LCSW Clinical Supervision?
LCSW supervision is a structured, collaborative process where an experienced LCSW-S supports LMSWs in building their clinical skills, ensuring ethical practice, deepening their therapeutic identity, and completing the requirements to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Texas. Make it stand out
Where do supervision sessions occur?
I hold both individual and group supervision sessions virtually through a HIPAA compliant platform.
What are supervision sessions like and what can I expect?
Supervision sessions are a supportive environment where we will discuss your cases and you’ll receive feedback and guidance on how to provide the highest level of care to your clients. You can expect that we will explore model and theory integration, workplace challenges, professional boundaries and burnout/ self care. You’ll receive practical support for documentation, treatment planning, diagnostic reasoning, ethical decision-making, and navigating real-world clinical challenges. We’ll work through tricky situations together so you feel confident and prepared.
How often do supervision meetings occur?
The Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC) requires an average of 4 hours of supervision per month. I typically see my LMSW supervisees twice a month, usually every other week, for two hours each; once in group format and once individually. We can create a schedule that fits your work setting, learning style, and caseload.
What is the financial investment?
It is $100 per individual supervision hour and $80 per group supervision hour. The total cost is $360 a month with group supervision is available. There might be times when a supervisee needs to meet more than the standard 4 hours a month. Payment via Venmo is expected on the day the LMSW meets with the supervisor. Documentation of proof of payment is available per request.
How long will I be in clinical supervision?
The TSBSWE requires a minimum of 100 hours of supervision over at least a 24 month period. Supervises must also have a minimum of 3,000 clinical working hours. Supervision and the accumulation of clinical hours must occur for the duration of the 24 month minimum period.
Can I work at Arielle’s practice to gain clinical hours?
No. I do not offer “on-site” supervision for LMSWs. I am considered an “off-site” supervisor. According to the TSBSWE, the LMSW will need to provide a letter from their job or agency director granting approval for the supervisee to get off-site supervision from me.
How much does an LCSW make in Texas?
According to Salary.com, as of December 1, 2025, the average salary for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Texas is $81,449. Salary is dependent on many factors including the type of job, level of experience, and location.
